Increasing graduation and transfer rates as a pathway to higher education or enhanced career opportunities.

Creating more opportunities for VCCCD students requires forward-thinking leadership, innovation, and a willingness to build meaningful partnerships that connect education to real-world opportunities.

As an educator and administrator, I have seen firsthand what is possible when we set high expectations and provide students with the right opportunities and support. Under my leadership at Thousand Oaks High School, the Class of 2017 achieved a 98.9% graduation rate, ranking among the top 5% statewide.

I have demonstrated that same commitment on the VCCCD Board through my support for expanded partnerships with universities, industry partners, employers, and community organizations; strengthening transfer and career pathways; and creating more opportunities for students to earn certificates, gain real-world experience, and move successfully into higher education or rewarding careers.

Baccalaureate Degrees

Further, I have been a strong advocate for the creation and implementation of Baccalaureate degrees within the VCCCD system and am proud of the work that has led to three such programs as follows:

• Moorpark College: Bachelor of Science in Biomanufacturing and a pending B.S. in Applied Cybersecurity & Network Operations

• Oxnard College: Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and a pending B.S. in Applied Advocacy & Organizing

• Ventura College: Bachelor of Science in Automotive Career Education
