Connecting with local businesses while creating new community partnerships.

Our students should graduate with more than a degree or certificate—they should graduate with meaningful connections to the world of work. VCCCD has an tremendous opportunity to expand internships, apprenticeships, job-shadowing, and employment opportunities by strengthening partnerships with Ventura County businesses, Chambers of Commerce, workforce development boards, and other community organizations.

Ventura County’s diverse business and economic landscape provides a unique opportunity for our colleges and students. I will work to expand these partnerships so students can gain real-world experience, develop professional networks, and acquire the skills employers need, while local businesses gain access to a well-educated and highly trained future workforce.

As Principal of Thousand Oaks High School, I implemented innovative programs within the existing College and Career Education program that expanded opportunities for students to participate in internships, job-shadowing, and career exploration. I will bring that same practical, partnership-driven approach to VCCCD.

As our students continue navigating the challenges and opportunities of a post-pandemic college experience, we must do more to connect education with opportunity. I will advocate for stronger relationships between VCCCD, local employers, Chambers of Commerce, workforce boards, and community organizations—and for programs that turn those relationships into tangible opportunities for our students.
